The 'Vogue' Burger

I've just got back from a right old feed at Meat Liquor which has inspired this post.

Meat Liquor, for those who don't know is a current hotspot in London town. It's one of those places that doesn't take bookings and requires your whole party to be there before they let you in. Due to this, there is a constant stream of ravenous hipsters, lost tourists and the odd elderly couple awaiting their next munch. In a nutshell we're talking a small selection of decent beer...creative cocktails...ever more creative names for them...overly friendly and hilarious bartenders...a dark and twisted decor...lots of deep fried things...no cutlery...a tray for a plate & lots and lots of burgers!

We seem to be obsessed with finding the perfect burger.

According to TimeOut London, the current top 10 restaurants sit like this...

1. Bubbledogs - A Champagne and Hotdog bar
2. Dirty Burger
3. Meat Liquor
4. Begging Bowl - A contemporary Thai restaurant
5. Honest Burgers
6. Hawksmoor Seven Dials - Meat, meat and more meat
7. Lardo - A trendy pizzaria
8. Caravan Kings Cross - A creative brasserie
9. Burger & Lobster
10. Camino Monumento - A spanish-city hangout

That's 4 out of the top 10 restaurant in the whole of London dedicated to throwing in their two cents in serving the perfect burger!

I guess food is fashion...burgers have been with us for...well, I don't really know but certainly as long as I can remember...but never with as much presence as they are now!

I wonder if it's just a fad? If so, when will it end...and what will replace it?
The Champagne and Hotdog bar, Bubbledogs is currently riding in the top spot of TimeOut's leader board. Is this a sign of things to come? The marriage of two unlikely products...or maybe some more influence from our friends across the pond???

Maybe a Meatloaf & Sherry bar?

Gap in the market if there ever was one!
